In 2019 I changed my perspective from looking out the side window to watching the road going forward through the front window.
Placing the vanishing point inside or closer to the frame significantly alters the perception of speed.

The Dempster Highway was one of the most spectacular
drives I have experienced, even though it rained almost the whole time.
Incredible vistas make you feel like you are on top of the
world as you weave through great planes and stunning mountain ranges.

Many thanks to my gorgeous-in-every-way daughter and super-driver, Jayne Keefe.

This image was taken at midnight after a long days drive from Inuvik.
We were rushing to stay ahead of more rain!

We drove around the Gaspé Peninsula from West to East during a gorgeous summer week in August.

For the first time I left my camera behind and brought only a sketchbook.

I was curious about what compositions would emerge without a camera's eye.
The selected compositions below were developed in the studio after returning home.

Many thanks to my talented and inspiring driver, Mary Lou Emburgh.

My drive around Cape Breton was on a beautiful day in May. There was still snow at the highest elevation.
The sketches below were done very quickly as a passenger en-route.

Many thanks to my awesome driver, Mark McGowen, and to my forever friend, Shirley MacNeish for her company.
