Evolution of my Trans Canada Drive series

These are the amazing individuals who inspired me. Every summer we drove from either Pointe-Claire, QC or Kingston, ON to visit our old friends out east. We listened to tunes, sang, played games, and they dozed. Here, we have just stopped for a quick dunk in the Saint John River on a scorching hot day with no air conditioning in the van. We were in motion, between here and there.

I started wondering what a landscape in motion might look like. How would I describe the experience of moving through the landscape? What do I see and remember? What could it look like?

First I simplified and stylized. Then I used a camera. The slow shutter speed perspective influenced a lot of my work throughout many fabulous adventures with friends and family.
Eventually I decided to work without a camera again and rely on sketches and memory. Full circle.
